The Job: The Marketing Coordinator will support the Marketing Manager with the development and execution of the Museum’s advertising and marketing research programs, and will contribute to marketing initiatives as outlined below:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the ad production process, scheduling and trafficking of ads produced internally and externally, making sure deadlines are met and approvals are secured by appropriate MSI staff
  • Discover, assign, and manage ad production resources, such as designers and other vendors
  • Manage vendors through the legal and purchasing process, process POs and track budgets
  • Work interdepartmentally and take responsibility for updates, timelines, budgets, cross-departmental issues/questions regarding campaign execution
  • Work closely with exhibit design team to share graphic resources and collaborate on onsite/entry hall advertising efforts
  • Coordinate the street banner advertising and north portico production process, including scheduling, design, production and billing
  • Negotiate and execute all barter-based media opportunities with the Chicago-land and out-of-market radio, online and print vendors
  • Collaborate with the communications team to extend brand campaigns and marketing plans into owned media channels
  • Execute targeted paid social efforts, in collaboration with the division’s social media team.
  • Assist with advance and day-of project details for MSI After Hours, under the direction of the Promotions and Events Coordinator
  • Support Marketing Manager with other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing and advertising or commensurate coursework
  • Experience with digital advertising preferred
  • Strong project management skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be available to coordinate and manage events on weekends and at offsite locations
  • You must have initiative, be flexible and know how to juggle and prioritize projects
