Events and Stewardship Intern

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Events and Stewardship Intern will work with the Manager, Annual Fund & Columbian Ball and Coordinator, Annual Fund, to assist with the planning and running of MSI donor events. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Compose and send event-related e-blasts, including pre-event email reminders, and event follow up emails
  • Edit and review donor communication pieces including event invitations and e-news stories
  • Participate in and take notes for event planning meetings
  • Manage event RSVPs and track using donor management software
  • Keep fundraising staff  informed of event attendance with up to date guest lists
  • Assist with mail merges, stuff and send event invitations and other event-related mailings
  • Upload event photos to online photo sharing site
  • Create name tags and place cards as needed
  • Develop make & take craft and other event activity ideas
  • Assist with research and booking of event entertainment
  • Assist with in-kind donation solicitations and follow up
  • Assist with event day set up and help ensure events run smoothly on the day
  • Deliver excellent customer service to donors via telephone and email as appropriate
  • Help create project review documents after each event
  • Assist with donor stewardship functions, including acknowledgement letters and emails
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Previous event planning experience preferred


  • Must be available for a period of 6 months or more
  • 10-15 hours work week, with additional evening and weekend hours possible on event days
