Youth Development Coordinator - Science Minors

The Youth Development Coordinator, Science Minors reports to the Manager of Community Initiatives Science Achievers/Minors Programs.  Primary responsibilities include coordination, development, and execution of programming for the teens entering and graduating the Science Minors program.    
 

Responsibilities:

  • In-house communication, coordination and documentation of the program with Minors/Achievers staff
  • Communication with teens, families, schools and community organizations.
  • Coordinate with museum staff, schools, community presentations and special events.
  • Coordinate with staff on Minors museum presentations as well as help facilitate a process for teens to develop and learn new presentations and activities on exhibit topics of their interest.
  • Conduct ongoing training, youth development and scheduling for Minors to work with other education programs to possibly include but not be limited to:  
  • Work with newly recruited  teens in the Science Minor program
  • Work with the current demonstration team
  • Work with volunteers in Science Minors/Achievers program
  • Administrative duties of inputting data and mailing list for program participants
  • Plan, conduct field trips and additional opportunities to meet with professionals in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math/Medicine. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Education, or four years’ experience working in youth development in an informal and/or formal learning environment  
  • Experience creating educational programming and materials that works directly with students in grades 8-12. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual - English and Spanish
